2023 Chardonnay- Clone 548- Wine Club Release

Tasting Notes The 2023 vintage may go down as the greatest for Chardonnay in Leaning Post history! A long, moderate summer and cool fall allowed wines to develop flavours very slowly. The clone 548 standing solo here, is typically the backbone of Senchuk Vineyard Chardonnay. The nose is initially reductive and tight, showing corn husk, lemon curd and cream, but quickly opens up to multiple layers of peach blossom, crème fraiche, salted caramel, wintergreen and sea-spray. The palate is a lovely expansion already highlighted on the nose. It has grilled pineapple, preserved lemon, lanolin, lemon grass and pronounced stoney minerality along the entire mid-palate to back end. There is a beautiful richness that is tight in the core with waves of flavours that keep unfolding with more time and air. The mouth-watering acidity is present, even by Senchuk Vineyard standards, and emphasizes the saline characteristics throughout.
