Fresh yet focused, with excellent depth and complexity this wine is all about drinkability! The sunshine of the Four Mile Creek terroir in Niagara-on-the-Lake shines through here, along with some single-vineyard complexity, with loads of strawberry, raspberry, and cherry leading almost immediately to pepper, spice and oregano-tinged leafy goodness! Some beautiful spice and leather show up in the background, with light blackberry and mulberry rounding out the end. The palate is soft and pretty, with a fantastically long and smooth finish. It has the “Glou Glou” (drinkability), and the complexity. Serve slightly chilled and enjoy!

2021 was long and warm, with very mixed weather throughout. The harvest was tricky, with several big rain events, but with skill and a lot of hard work, the resulting wines have been truly amazing. This phenomenal Gamay gave us great intensity and ripeness at moderate alcohol. This wine was picked on September 30th and placed in concrete and amphora fermenters. Made with 40% whole cluster, and 60% destemmed grapes, after a 5-day cold soak fermentation occurred spontaneously and was hand punched-down twice a day for 3 weeks. After fermentation, the wine was kept on skins for an additional 2 days then gently pressed and settled in vessel. It was then racked into a clay amphora, concrete tank and stainless steel and aged for 10 months. No additions of any kind were made, not yeast, malolactic bacteria or even sulphites.
