While 2021 was a tricky vintage, our little piece of paradise here in Winona continues to shine! The clone 548 standing solo here, is typically the backbone of Senchuk Vineyard Chardonnay.
Nose: The nose is initially reductive and tight, showing corn husk and lemon curd, but quickly opens up to multiple layers of peach blossom, salted caramel, honeysuckle and sea-spray.
Palate: The palate is a lovely expansion already highlighted on the nose. It has spiced peach, grilled pineapple, preserved lemon with lemon grass and wet stone minerality filling out the back end. There is a beautiful richness that is tight in the core with waves of flavours that keep unfolding with more time and air.
Finish: The mouth-watering acidity emphases the saline characteristics found on the nose and palate. A truly wonderful expression of what we love about clone 548.
Pairing: Poached salmon with a buttery sauce, chicken, pork or pasta in a creamy sauce pair stunningly with this wine.
