This blended wine massively overdelivers for the price!

Nose: Blackberry, cassis, raspberry, and mulberry instantly appear on the nose, with lilac, cracked white pepper, licorice, and pancetta following closely behind.

Palate: On the palate, the warmth & weight of the 2020 vintage is immediately evident, with a very broad and weighty mid-palate of plum, wild blueberry, and strawberry layered over dark chocolate and graphite with wisps of herbes-de-Provence and black olive.

Finish: The powerful but soft tannins make this a satisfying vintage to drink now with a good decant but will age well over the next 5-8 years.

Pairing: Serve with grilled burgers, cured meats, or hard cheeses, and enjoy.

Hand-picked and hand-sorted on October 14th (Merlot) & 31st (Cabernet Franc from 2 different vineyards), the grapes were hand-sorted and destemmed, each portion of wine being vinified and aged separately. Fermentation was started in stainless steel, open-top fermentors (Merlot) and concrete tanks (Cabernet Franc). After a 5-day cold soak, the wines underwent pump-overs 2x per day for 4 weeks. Each wine remained on skins for a total of 5 weeks after fermentation before being gently pressed. After being racked into oak barrels (15% new) to be aged for 12 months, the 2020 Cuvée Winona was allowed to settle naturally before being bottled in May 2022.

Winemaker’s Notes

Hand-picked and hand-sorted on October 14th (Merlot) & 31st (Cabernet Franc from 2 different vineyards), the grapes were hand-sorted and destemmed, each portion of wine being vinified and aged separately. Fermentation was started in small, open-top fermentors. After a 5-day cold soak, the grapes were punched down by hand 2x per day for 4 weeks throughout fermentation by indigenous yeast. Each wine remained on skins for a total of 5 weeks after fermentation before being gently pressed. After being racked into oak barrels (15% new) to be aged for 12 months, the 2019 Cuvée Winona was allowed to settle naturally before being bottled in March 2021.
