The “Geekiness” is on the rise with this wine! Our “Solera Lees” system will continue into future vintages until we can answer the question: How much lees is “too much” lees? Only “The Geek” knows.

Nose: Reductive notes of charcoal smoke and flint are beautifully supported by stone fruit and hints of petrol.

Palate: On the palate, there is a rich and creamy texture that comes together with the freshness of other grape varieties.

Finish: A lovely lingering finish this wine is practically immortal and will age well for the next decade and beyond.

Pairing: Drink with freshly shucked oysters, sushi, and the geek you love most.

With this fifth vintage of the Geek Riesling, the tanks get bigger, but the production volume stays about the same.

Hand-picked and hand-sorted grapes were gently whole cluster-pressed. Treated the same as the Wismer-Foxcroft Riesling for the first 2/3 of the fermentation process, a portion of the wine was drawn off when fermentation ended on the Wismer-Foxcroft Riesling and allowed to ferment to dryness in a separate tank. As fermentations from other white wines (Riesling, Chardonnay & Sauvignon Blanc) were completed, their lees were added to this drawn-off portion. All the lees from the 2014, 2015, 2016 & 2017 vintages of this wine were added on July 29, 2019. Allowed to age on these extra lees for 22 months, the 2017 Geek Riesling was racked and bottled on September 9th, 2020, unfined and unfiltered.

Tasting Notes
A much more austere version of The Geek has arisen! This wine is essentially Muscadet on steroids. The beautiful, fragrant stone fruit of Riesling is coupled with the freshness of Melon de Bourgogne. It is practically immortal and will age well for the next decade and beyond. Drink with freshly shucked oysters, sushi, and the geek you love most.
