Hemeris Vineyard is a gem nestled within the prestigious Beamsville Bench sub-appellation. Owned by the Kouvassilopoulos family, the term “Hemeris” comes from the Greek term for a cultivated vine vs. a vine growing in the wild. Set approx. 20 metres above the road, against the breathtaking backdrop of the Niagara Escarpment, Beamsville Bench is renowned for its unique microclimate and terroir.
The vineyard, with its rich clay loam soil running throughout, captures the essence of this terroir, imparting depth, complexity, and tension to the grapes that Leaning Post produces into wines. The 40+ year old Chardonnay vines are the base for Leaning Post’s Traditional Method Sparkling, while also providing a very distinctive and gravelly Pinot Noir. This vineyard reflects the true character of Beamsville Bench—bold yet elegant, vibrant yet refined.
