Grimsby Hillside Vineyard, owned by the Franciosa family, has a rich tradition of growing grapes on the site for over 150 years. Nestled on the gently rolling hills at the base of the escarpment in the Lincoln Lakeshore sub-appellation, they have quickly built a reputation for growing top-shelf grapes being made into exquisite wines by some of the best wineries in Niagara.
The vineyard boasts an exceptional terroir defined by its unique topography and soil. This soil composition imbues the grapes with distinctive characteristics, resulting in wines of unparalleled complexity and depth. The slopes immediately below the escarpment where the Riesling and Chardonnay vines flourish are on a nutrient-rich clay loam soil, imparting a distinct character to each varietal. Meanwhile, the Pinot Noir vines are rooted in red clay soils, yielding grapes of unparalleled depth and intensity. At Grimsby Hillside, the vines are meticulously tended, harnessing the rich soil and temperate climate to cultivate premium grapes that capture the essence of the region.
